The College Boy Cookbook idea came to me when I was tasked with creating a recipe book made specifically by and for college students. This specific project in my Publication Design course required an interactive PDF with one intro page and five homemade recipes. Listed below are the project requirements:
project requirements
-
use any tablet for dimensions that you wish. designing for screen and using the monitor will still be an effective way of looking at how your design works in a digital environment but if you have a tablet you can use to test and view the design, it would be better.
-
there will be six screens in total:
intro page - having links to each of the five recipes
meal one - show recipe & ingredients with 1 image
meal two - show recipe & ingredients with 1 image
meal three - show recipe & ingredients with 1 image with at least 5 hot spots of added details about the ingredients
meal four - show recipe & ingredients with 3 images that has buttons to show and hide the images
meal five - show recipe & ingredients with 1 image
-
the layout will be worked as a landscape for any tablet.
-
buttons must be included on every page that allows a person to jump to any page at any time
As anyone who loves eating, one of my favorite parts about this project was being able to enjoy some of my favorite recipes.
The motif I thought screamed college was none other than a cup full of beer. Taking into the account the tabletop activities that usually accompany a large group of these cups, I used ping pong balls as interactive buttons to navigate to each recipe page from the Home page. To return to the home page, simply click the beer cup in the left hand corner of each recipe page.
